2026 LGBTQIA+ Craft Workshop Series Kicks-Off in March

At the Truckee Roundhouse Community Makerspace, creativity means building community, creating space for expression, and ensuring everyone feels welcome. That’s why we’re thrilled to launch another year of our free monthly LGBTQIA+ Craft Workshop Series in 2026.

This meaningful program offers a welcoming space where queer creators can gather to learn something new, share ideas, and connect with others in a supportive environment. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and community supporters, these workshops remain completely free, helping remove barriers so more people can participate.

Over the course of eight months, participants ages 16 and over can explore a range of hands-on crafts and creative experiences led by talented local instructors. The workshops are designed for all experience levels and a place to meet new friends.

We’re kicking things off with four exciting workshops this spring:

❤️ March 23: Mocktail Syrup & Elixir Making Party
Kick off another year of LGBTQIA+ craft workshops with us by making specialized mocktails! Our friend and herbalist, Willow, will guide you through the process of making herbal syrups and botanical elixirs to create your own custom blends. This is a social, affirming space for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies to gather, learn something new, and leave with new skills, friends, and something delicious.

🧡 April 30 | Design a Disco Ball
Add a little extra shimmer to your world by creating your own disco ball in our upcoming LGBTQIA+ craft workshop! Our friend and disco artist, Alyssa, will walk you through working with mirror tiles to craft a personal, light-catching piece ready to hang at home. All materials are included — come make something sparkly together.

💚 May 17 | Block Printing Tote Bags
Carve out a little joy in our free LGBTQIA+ craft workshop! Learn how to block print onto fabric, and design and print your very own custom tote bag. Our friend and artist, Sarinah, will guide you through carving your own stamp, inking it up, and pressing your design onto a reusable canvas tote to show off your pride all year long.

💜 June 1 | Pride Week Fabulous Fashion Making
Join us for a costume-making workshop in celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Week! Whether you're preparing for a parade, a party, or just want to craft something that represents your unique identity, our friend and fashion designer, Holly, will help you get creative with fabric. We'll have a variety of fabrics (metallics, velvet, stretch, tulle..) for plenty of inspiration to help you design vibrant, one-of-a-kind outfits, accessories, and statement pieces.

These gatherings create opportunities for people to show up as themselves, try something new, and be supported in a creative space. We’ve seen friendships form, artistic passions ignite, and people discover new skills they never expected to love. That sense of belonging is what makes the series so special—and why we’re so excited to continue it in 2026.

Whether you’ve attended before or are brand new to the Roundhouse, you belong here. We invite you to come make something, meet incredible people, and be part of this vibrant creative community!

Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up in advance. We kindly ask that everyone only reserve a space if they plan to attend the class -- canceling or not attending decreases our ability to serve the community with this free resource.
