About The Truckee Roundhouse

The Truckee Roundhouse is a nonprofit makerspace that supports teaching, learning, and practicing of a wide variety of crafts, skills, technologies, and arts in the Truckee-Tahoe community. We achieve this by providing accessible resources: tools, teachers, and programs in a collaborative environment. Our vision is to empower people to explore their creative potential and build a more connected, inspired, and vibrant world. We are looking for a positive, organized, and service-oriented person to serve as Program and Class Manager for the Truckee Roundhouse.

The Role

The Program and Class Manager is the operational hub of Truckee Roundhouse's educational programming. This role owns the full class and workshop experience, from instructor recruitment and curriculum development through booking, logistics, marketing, and follow-up.

This is a growth-oriented position with significant opportunity to expand Roundhouse programming into new audiences, formats, and revenue streams. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Truckee, CA. The Program and Class Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Classes & Workshops

  • Own the full public class calendar: booking, scheduling, feedback, and hit or exceed revenue targets 

  • Manage class customer service: cancellations, credits, booking questions, and issues

  • Recruit, onboard, and support instructors

  • Schedule and coordinate trial classes with new instructors

  • Order and manage class materials and supplies

  • Evaluate all aspects of the classes program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes, as appropriate 

  • Serve as on-site safety officer for classes for guest instructors

  • Administer class scholarship program

  • Book Summer Kids Camps and seasonal camps, coordinate instructors, administer scholarship program, and manage program feedback

  • Create and send twice-monthly newsletter emails featuring upcoming classes

  • Manage social media and Slack posts for class promotion

  • Take photos at classes and community enrichment events for use in marketing

  • Explore and develop private class and corporate group class opportunities

  • Provide monthly reports to ED on instructor payments and class participation data to be reported to BOD

  • Update website resources page with current tool and class information

Community Enrichment & Partner Programs

  • Book and coordinate community enrichment workshops including: Senior Art Workshops, LGBTQIA+ Workshops, Keep Truckee Green Reuse & Repair Workshops (textiles & electronics), Partner and school programs

  • Send monthly impact surveys for community programs

General Support

  • Occasional light housekeeping of shop space

  • Serve as back-up for Volunteer Front Desk Position

  • Assist with administrative support for ED

  • Assist with Board priorities as needed

  • Serve on Maker Show Leadership Committee

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Based in Reno/Tahoe. (Hybrid WFH/ in-person at the space multiple times a week)

  • Must be available for in-person instructor, volunteer, and member orientations, meetings, and reasonably reachable by phone

  • Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on learning, making, and community education

  • High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and familiarity with email and social media marketing best practices

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of instructors, members, board members, and the public

  • Experience with scheduling, program coordination, or event management

  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal office hours; ability to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job

  • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities and excel in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities

  • Proficient in Google Suite and adept with new technology and software

  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for transportation 

Bonus Points

  • Experience in a makerspace, art studio, community center, or similar environment

  • Background in education, curriculum development, or instruction

  • Experience with email marketing, social media, or newsletter platforms

  • Proficiency in Spanish

  • Familiarity with the Truckee/North Lake Tahoe community

  • Starting salary range is $26–$30 an hour. Compensation is based on the candidate's unique skills and experience
