TTUSD 6th Grade GATE Community Service Project
November and December 2024, 61 sixth graders visited the Roundhouse over three days. The program goal was for the students to learn new skills in our Textiles Shop while creating zippered tote bags to give to local foster kids. The project complemented a book they read about the Foster Care system in class. The students crafted custom tote bags with zippers and student-designed vinyl cut designs on the pockets. Many students said that the program was their favorite day of the year, and instructors mentioned how lucky our community is to have a space like the Roundhouse where students can explore hands-on learning.
